At Elevate Health, human movement inspires us.

We believe that freedom of movement of the human body is a core component of a healthy and productive life.

We consider the whole person to be far more than the sum of their respective ‘parts’, and value the concept of ‘Regional Interdependence’ (how one area of the body may affect another) in our clinical decision-making.

We empower people to lead active, healthier lives by providing meaningful assessments and interventions that are designed to improve movement; decrease pain; reduce injury risk, and enhance quality of life.

Let us guide you back to doing the things you love to do.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

We value the concept of 'Regional Interdependence'.

Regional interdependence refers to the concept that different body regions can, and do, affect one another. In other words, movement impairments in one area of the body may create secondary dysfunction in other areas of the body.

Your body is an interconnected masterpiece and focusing too heavily on a particular area in isolation may not always yield the best results, in fact, sometimes it makes more sense to avoid working on the painful area at all.

Our preference is to assess overall patterns of movement, in conjunction with more localised regional assessments, in order to make rational decisions about your management.

To this end, we value quality of movement and how well you are functioning, over and above how well you are feeling.

This is not because we don't care how you feel, but rather, because the way you feel isn't necessarily reflective of how well you are functioning, nor is it indicative of your risk of future injury.

We know that if you are moving well and functioning well, you are more likely to feel great and less likely to develop injury - which we care a great deal about.

There is a lot more information contained in our resources section, please explore this section and search for any particular injury or body region you have an interest in for more detailed information.

WHAT WE DO

Dr. Steven Hewitt

Chiropractor

Raised in Mount Eliza, Dr Steven Hewitt attended Mount Eliza North Primary School and Mount Eliza Secondary College.
He graduated from the 5-year RMIT chiropractic program in 2003 and has been in private practice ever since.

In 2006, Steve passed his American Chiropractic Neurology Board exams in Texas after a two-year part-time program of study.
His studies have led him to a special interest in more complex conditions such as balance disorders (vertigo/dizziness), functional breathing disorders (dyspnea & hyperventilation) and migraine.

WHO WE ARE

Steve also has a strong interest in exercise science, movement control and injury prevention. He enjoys sharing his passion for these topics with others and has presented to sports, employers and special interest groups about how to move better, and implement preventative strategies to help avoid injury and improve performance.

With an Olympic lifting background, Steve works with a number of Crossfit and Olympic lifting coaches and their athletes.

Claudia started as a Remedial Massage therapist at Elevate Health in 2015, while she was also completing her Chiropractic studies at RMIT. Through the course of her studies she developed a special interest in ante-natal and post-partum care, and started to pursue further studies in pelvic floor rehabilitation. Following the birth of her first child, this interest piqued further with the direct application of her ongoing studies into her own experiences as a new mum.
Claudia has a passion for assisting women prepare for pregnancy, manage the physical changes experienced during pregnancy and return them to exercise (without the leaks!) post-partum. Her first-hand experience now allows her to relate to her hopeful, expectant and strong Mumma’s even better than before.
